Small Group Bible Study Tour, April 19-20, 2007

Monday 9th April, 2007

Jesus said, "I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen" (John 10:16a, NIV). Since 40% of people today cannot attend church on Sunday morning, the church must creatively consider how to offer Bible study at times and places at which people can experience life-changing Bible study and Christian community. What are you doing to prepare your class or Sunday School as a whole to address this need?

Only infrequently will I feature events on this blog. The Small Group Bible Study Tour is definitely one to which I want to invite each and every reader. Rick Howerton will be the featured speaker at each stop of the tour. Rick is the Senior Pastor of The Bridge in Spring Hill, TN. He serves as Small Group consultant with LifeWay and as seminar and consulting director with Serendipity House. His passion is people being transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit working through authentic Christian community in small groups.

Rick will speak on "How to Be an Effective Small Group Leader" and "Starting an Effective Small Group Ministry." Rick's training is practical and full of personal illustrations. Invite church and Sunday School leaders to attend with you. Then plan to debrief the experience with your leaders.

Each stop of the Small Group Bible Study Tour is offered at no cost. Light refreshments will be available. Door prizes will be given at each location. No registration is necessary. Call 502-489-3340 for more information. I hope to see you and your group at one of these locations:

  • Thursday, April 19, 6:30-9:00 PM, Elkhorn Baptist Association, 1161 Red Mile, Lexington;
  • Friday, April 20, 9:00-Noon, Northern Kentucky Association, 3001 Riggs Av, Erlanger; and
  • Friday, April 20, 6:30-9:00 PM, Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 7709 Bardstown Rd, Louisville.

Change benefits from team preparation. Invite your team. Prepare them to be revolutionaries!
