Improve Your Sunday School Assimilation by Attending the ’Beyond the First Visit’ Event

Wednesday 16th April, 2008

On May 22, we will host Gary McIntosh at the Kentucky Baptist Convention building, 13. He will talk about assimilation principles taken from his experience and his book, Beyond the First Visit, along with other books he has written. Check out the well-written Western Recorder article about this upcoming event.

McIntosh is a consultant, author, speaker, president of the McIntosh Church Growth Network, and professor of Christian Ministry and Leadership at the School of Theology, Biola University. Here is some information about him:

  • Over 22 years of consulting experience
  • More then 500 churches diagnosed
  • 55 different denominations served
  • Author of 13 books on church growth & 6 manuals on pastoral ministry
  • Editor, Church Growth Network & Journal of American Church Growth.
  • Pastor, C.E. director for over 15 years
  • Conducted over 300 national seminars
  • Consulted with churches ranging in size from 50 to over 2,000
  • Listed in the "Who’s Who" in Church Growth

The bottom line is that McIntosh has put together one of the most helpful assimilation books in print today. Sunday School must be a helpful partner in the effort to reach and KEEP people connected. According to Thom Rainer, when new members become active in Sunday School, 87% will still be connected in five years while only 13% will still be connected who are not active in Sunday School.

Plan now to attend this event. Bring a team with you (pastor, staff, Sunday School director and teachers, deacons, greeters, ushers, and other key church leaders). The cost of $25 per person includes lunch and materials, including a copy of McIntosh’s book, Beyond the First Visit. You can register and find additional information here, or call 502-489-3581, or toll free in Kentucky at 866-489-3581.
